Aston Villa could be about to bring Philippe Coutinho to Villa Park.

The Midlands club are in discussions with the Brazilian’s agent over a potential loan move, and this could be an excellent signing.

Coutinho may have regressed since he joined Barcelona, but don’t forget, he’s still an incredibly talented player.

Indeed, Barcelona don’t pay £142m for you unless you’re a special player, and his record at Premier League level speaks for itself.

Coutinho returning to England is rather exciting, but a move to Villa Park is even more tantalising due to a potential partnership he could strike up with Danny Ings.

Coutinho and Ings will know each other from their time at Liverpool, but due to several injuries to the striker, they never really got to strike up a proper partnership.

Remarkably, the pair only played alongside each other on six occasions, and that’s simply not enough time to form a deadly connection.

However, now, at Villa, the pair could rekindle the connection that should have been cultivated at Anfield all those years ago.

Think about it, this could be a match made in heaven.

Coutinho, when he’s at his best, is one of Europe’s best creators – Jack Grealish has even described his final ball as ‘perfect’, and if Ings can get on the end of some of those passes, it may soon start raining goals at Villa Park.

Ings may not have been scoring at an incredible rate this season, but let’s not forget, this is a striker who hit 21 Premier League goals just two seasons ago, he’s a brilliant finisher if he’s handed chances.

Coutinho and Ings didn’t manage to get much going at Liverpool, but they could be about to show the Reds exactly what they missed.
