Aston Villa considering summer move for Canada international forward

Aston Villa want to sign Jonathan David from Lille in the summer transfer window, according to 90min.

The report has claimed that Villa are considering a move for the Canada international forward in the summer of 2023.

The Premier League club are also reportedly interested in AS Roma striker Tammy Abraham and Borussia Monchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram.

Jonathan David has been on the books of Lille since 2020 when he joined from Gent.

The 23-year-old has done well for the French club and also played for Canada at the 2022 Qatar World Cup finals.

The Canadian star has scored 15 goals and four assists in 22 Ligue 1 starts for Lille so far this season.

The forward has scored one goal in one Coupe de France match this campaign.

Last season, David scored 15 goals in 32 Ligue 1 starts and scored three goals in eight UEFA Champions League matches for Lille.

Ibrahima Bamba interest

Meanwhile, The Times have reported that Villa are interested in signing Vitória defender Ibrahima Bamba in the summer transfer window.

Villa’s holding company, V Sports, has agreed to pay €5.5 million (£4.9 million) for 46 per cent of Vitória’s shares.

The Villans are now reportedly in talks over the summer transfer of Bamba and will be given priority in negotiations.
