Aston Villa coach, Michael Beale, and ex-right back, Alan Hutton, have reacted on Instagram to Nathan Patterson moving from Rangers to Everton.
On Tuesday, the Scotland international made a £12 million transfer from Rangers to the Premier League – the deal could rise to £16 million, according to Sky Sports.
Patterson now joins his former Ibrox coach, Beale, in the Premier League and the Villa man sent him this message on the player’s IG page: “Good luck mate.”
Whilst Hutton, who played for both Villa and Rangers during his career, added a similar message: “All the best mate.”
Everton will take on Hull City in the FA Cup at the weekend and their midfielder, Greg Doherty, who was with Patterson at Rangers, stated: “Congrats mate. See you Saturday.” added with a laughing emoji.
This is a great move for Patterson and one that will help elevate his career to the next level.
All he needs to do is look over towards London and a certain Kieran Tierney and how he has performed since swapping the colours of Celtic for Arsenal.
There are many Scottish stars producing the goods in England’s top-flight, including Andy Robertson and Scotland’s Player of the Year, John McGinn.
And now, Patterson will be hoping to add his name to that list and help this struggling Everton side get out of their current rut.
The under-fire Rafa Benitez has, so far, been the busiest of all in bringing players to the club this month because Patterson joins another fullback in Vitaliy Mykolenko on Merseyside.
The Ukraine flyer joined from Dynamo Kyiv in a deal worth around £17 million, according to BBC Sport.
Now it’s a case of the duo trying to settle in as quick as possible because the Toffees are stuck near the bottom half of the table and they need that freshness injected into them.
