Celtic battled off interest in Brendan Rodgers from Aston Villa.

Celtic are desperate to keep hold of manager Brendan Rodgers.
Rodgers recently attracted interest from Aston Villa, with The Mail claiming he was under strong consideration from the Championship side before they appointed Dean Smith.
The Northern Irishman has won six domestic trophies in two seasons at Celtic and is tipped to add more silverware this year despite an unusually rocky start to the campaign.
Celtic want to keep him put, and the future of star man Kieran Tierney could also depend on how long he stays at Celtic.
Tierney is Celtic’s prize asset. A homegrown talent, Celtic fan, and Scotland international.

Already at 21 he has won everything there is to win at Celtic domestically, and has attracted attention from Everton, Tottenham and Manchester United.
The Times reported earlier this summer that Tierney is valued at around £25 million.
Brendan Rodgers has been crucial to Tierney’s development, and right now, the left-back is perfectly happy to stay put at Celtic.
If Rodgers leaves, Tierney could consider moving on too.
It wasn’t Aston Villa this time around, but sooner or later, Rodgers will be linked with another role in England.
Celtic can’t afford to let him leave, as it could signal the break up of this successful side.
No departure would hurt more than Tierney’s.
