Could Aston Villa sign more players in the January transfer window?
Aston Villa CEO Keith Wyness has been quoted as saying by The Birmingham Mail that the club could spend money in the January transfer window.
Villa were quite busy in the summer transfer window, as they prepared for life in the Championship.
The Villans got relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2015-16 campaign.
Tommy Elphick, Aaron Tshibola, Ross McCormack and Ritchie De Laet were among the players signed by Villa in the summer.
Things are not going according to plan, though, as the Villans are just a point above the relegation zone at the moment.
The club have also made a managerial change, appointing Steve Bruce following the departure of Roberto Di Matteo.
Villa CEO Wyness has suggested that the club could back Bruce with transfer funds in the January window.
“We are always open to looking at tweaking the squad,” The Birmingham Mail quotes Wyness as saying.
“Steve has already said himself this is probably the best squad he has ever taken over and there’s nothing massively wrong with the squad. But would we spend again in January? Absolutely.”
Villa will return to action on Saturday afternoon when they take on Wolverhampton Wanderers at Villa Park in the Championship.
The Villans have a good bunch of players, but they need to stop conceding late goals.
With Bruce in charge, Villa can certainly climb up the Championship table in the coming weeks and months.
