Aston Villa are unlikely to sign Tammy Abraham from Chelsea in the summer transfer window as things stand, according to The Athletic.
What’s the report?
Chelsea want £40 million as transfer fee for Abraham, according to The Athletic.
Villa are interested in the England international striker, according to a report in The Mirror last month.
Manager Dean Smith worked with the 23-year-old at Villa back in 2018-19.
The 23-year-old scored 26 goals and gave three assists in 40 Championship games for the Villans that season.
Abraham’s goals during his loan spell at Villa helped the club clinch promotion to the Premier League.
Could Abraham to Aston Villa happen?
It is only the start of July.
We all know that transfers take time. It is very likely that the future of Abraham will not be decided now.
Ollie Watkins has done well for Villa, and you could argue that the Villans do not need another striker.

However, every team has room for improvement.
Abraham would make Villa better and more potent in attack.
The Daily Mail reported in May that Abraham – described as “unbelievable” by Villa attacking midfielder Jack Grealish during an Instagram Q&A last year when asked about the England international striker – is resigned to leaving Chelsea.
The 23-year-old made only 12 starts in the Premier League last season, but in 2019-20, he scored 15 goals and gave three assists in 25 league starts.
