Aston Villa are reportedly set to bid £8m for Egypt’s African Cup of Nations star – can he shine in the Premier League like Diogo Jota?

The fans may serenade Ruben Neves from the terraces while the pundits rave about Raul Jimenez, Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho but, without Diogo Jota, Wolverhampton Wanderers would not have gone from the Championship to the Europa League in just over a year.
The former Atletico Madrid winger is proving to be one of Wolves’ most inspired signings in the 21st century.
Jota was the top scorer as Wolves stormed to the Championship title last season before his seven goals fired Nuno Espirito Santo’s side to seventh in the top flight. He even became the first Wolves player to score a Premier League hat-trick since 1977. Some feat indeed.
But could Mahmoud Hassan, otherwise known as ‘Trezeguet’, have a similar impact a few miles down the road at Villa Park? He certainly shares a few similarities with Wolves’ jet-heeled Iberian.
According to The Sun, Aston Villa are set to launch an £8 million bid for a Kasimpasa winger who is making headlines for his outstanding performances for Egypt at the African Cup of Nations.

After plundering nine goals and ten assists for Kasimpasa last season, Trezeguet is now taking Africa by storm. He’s even outshone Liverpool superstar Mo Salah in the group stage.
Yes, Trezeguet boasts electric pace and the ability to leave full-backs quaking in their lurid, sponsored boots. But, like that flash of amber and black who has won the heart of Wolves’ fans, it is Trezeguet’s end product which marks him out as a superb talent.
Jota has set the benchmark for wingers in the Midlands. But Trezeguet has all the talent to make a similar impression in claret and blue.
