The former Hull City manager has replaced Roberto Di Matteo at Villa Park.
New Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce has praised the club’s owner Dr Tony Xia, describing him as a dream, speaking to AVTV.
The former Hull City boss was appointed as Roberto Di Matteo’s successor on Wednesday evening, and spoke about working under the new Villa owner, who bought the club in the summer.
“He’s [Xia] invested in the squad, so in that respect he’s a manager’s dream,” Bruce told Aston Villa TV.
“We’ve invested in very very good players.”
There was quite the overhaul at Villa Park over the summer as a new manager arrived and a host of new players joined the Championship side, with Xia investing a lot of money in players he expected to help his team return to the Premier League at the first time of asking.
Xia spent big money on some of the top talent in the Championship, as well as Premier League players who have experience in the second tier of English football.
On paper, Villa have one of the best sides in the league, with players like Ross McCormack, James Chester, Mile Jedinak, Albert Adomah and Tommy Elphick all tried and tested in the Championship, with some starring at Premier League level as well.
However, the investments have not yet paid off for Xia, who made the decision to remove Di Matteo from his post as manager with the club sitting in 19th place with just 10 points from their opening 11 games.
Xia will be hoping that Bruce is the man to change the fortunes of the club and get their expensive squad firing.
