Christopher Samba has been training with Aston Villa for some time now.
Steve Bruce has confirmed to the Birmingham Mail that Christopher Samba is continuing to train with Aston Villa.
Samba has been trying to earn a contract at Villa since last month, with the powerful centre-back joining the claret and blues’ squad.
And Bruce admits that he still hasn’t made up his mind over whether he will be offering Samba a deal.
“I’ve got to sit down with him and his representative and see but there’s been nothing decided just yet,” Bruce said, when asked whether Villa wanted to sign Samba on a permanent transfer.
“I watched Samba on Monday night. I’ve known him through Big Sam [Allardyce] and he’s wanted to come and train.
“There’s this notion that he’s on trial, it’s not really a trial as such.
“He wants to earn a contract and we’ve given him the platform to keep fit.
“We’ll see what happens over the next two weeks or so.”
Samba played his first Villa match for the under-23’s in midweek, and put in an accomplished performance.
Samba familiar with English football, having played for Blackburn Rovers and Queens Park Rangers during his career to date.
However, there are question marks over what he could offer Villa, at this stage of his career.
Samba is now 32-years-old, and his last move to Panathinaikos did not work out as expected.
Villa are next in action against promotion chasing Sheffield Wednesday tomorrow.
