Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Matt Doherty’s performances have impressed Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce.

Bruce has been impressed with the performances of Dohery, who can operate as a right-back or as a left-back, this season.
The Republic of Ireland international has scored four goals and provided three assists in 41 Championship appearances for Wolves so far this campaign.
The Wanderers are at the top of the Championship table at the moment with 92 points from 42 matches, as many as 11 points clear of second-placed Fulham.

Bruce told The Express & Star: “The right wing-back Doherty has been, for me, as good a player as anybody in the Championship from what I’ve seen this year.”

Important player
Doherty has been on the books of Wolves his entire professional club football career so far and is an important player in Nuno’s team.
The Republic of Ireland international defender has been a consistent figure for Wolves, who look set to win automatic promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
It will be interesting to see how Doherty makes the transition to the top flight of English football from the Championship next season.
