Aston Villa have been on a worrying run of form recently.
During an interview with the Birmingham Mail, Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce was brutally critical of his side’s recent performances, and highlighted a particular area where he believes they are quite simply ‘not very good’.
The Villans are currently in the midst of a poor run of form, that has seen them slip down to 13th in the Championship table, and worryingly, 10 points adrift of sixth placed Sheffield Wednesday.
And, when speaking to the Birmingham Mail, Bruce stressed the need for his side to get back to basics, after going three Championship games without a win:

“The one thing you have to do is do the basics right. We will do the basics right because we haven’t been doing that. At Wolves we gave the ball away too cheaply. It was sloppy. The organisation and shape at times was awful. That is just the effect of chasing the game the way we did. We are not very good at it.”

Despite impressing early on during Bruce’s tenure, the honeymoon period at Villa Park has now quite clearly ended, and it is the players’ responsibility to start producing on a more consistent basis, and in turn, help their team climb the league table.
They now have a fantastic opportunity to do just that, with four of their next six league games coming at Villa Park.
And if they are to have any chance whatsoever of making the play-off spots come May, they will surely need to win at least five of those games.
