Aston Villa beat Burton Albion 2-1 on Boxing Day to move up to 10th place in the Championship table.
Steve Bruce has told the Birmingham Mail that he could tell Aston Villa fans were frustrated at times, during his side’s match against Burton Albion on Boxing Day.
The claret and blues almost sold out Villa Park for their first ever meeting with Burton, but the atmosphere wasn’t always positive.
There were stages of the match where Burton managed to frustrate Villa, with their defence looking organised.
And Bruce said: “We kept making mistake and mistake and the crowd are all full of turkey and brandy and all the rest of it and they let it be known.
“But I have to say, magnificent support, at a game against Burton, no disrespect to them.
“It’s unbelievable to see a full house here, not quite but near enough. It was good to see.”
Despite the audible annoyance in the crowd, Villa still sent their supporters home happy in the end – as they picked up a 2-1 victory.
Bruce’s men took the lead early on, when Leandro Bacuna planted a bullet header into the back of the net.
However, they did not have an advantage for long, as Burton fired back through Jamie Ward just 15 minutes later.
The scores then remained locked until the latter stages of the game, when Ross McCormack fired in the winner from close range.
Villa are now in 10th place in the Championship table – just six points back from the play off spots.
