Birmingham City are set to host Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa side at the weekend.

Steve Bruce has said at his press conference, which was broadcast on Aston Villa’s official Facebook page, that he is expecting a ‘red-hot’ atmosphere to greet his side at St. Andrews this weekend.

Villa are set to take on Blues on Sunday, and Bruce knows that his team will face a tough test.

Bruce feels that the claret and blues will have to cope with a fierce atmosphere inside the ground, and he has urged his players not to play the occasion.

“The atmosphere will be red-hot,” Bruce admitted. “They’ll make it that way. “It’s who handles that. You play the game, not the occasion. You’ve got to get yourself revved up for it, but you’ve got to remember to play.”

Villa go into the game with momentum on their side, after beating Fulham in their last Championship match.

Bruce’s men ran out 2-1 winners over the Cottagers, with their strong run of form continuing.

Villa have won four of their last five league games, to climb into the play off spots in the Championship table.

Birmingham, meanwhile, have look out of sorts of late – with Steve Cotterill’s side looking nervously over their shoulders.

If Villa do beat Birmingham, then the Blues could slip into the Championship’s relegation zone.
