Aston Villa signed Henri Lansbury from Nottingham Forest last week.

Steve Bruce has told Aston Villa’s official website that his side’s problems against Preston North End started when Henri Lansbury became fatigued.

Lansbury was only brought to Forest from Villa earlier last week, but the central-midfielder was quickly thrown into the claret and blues’ starting line-up.

And Bruce was very impressed by the 26-year-old new boy’s showing, even though Villa were unable to hold on to the victory.

“When he tired, I think our problems started. He had a big influence,” Bruce said.

“He obviously tired because he hasn’t played for several weeks.

“The kid had a wonderful debut and played ever so well.”

Villa had gone into a 2-0 lead against Preston in the first-half, with Albert Adomah scoring both their goals.

Adomah first poked in from close range after good work from Gabriel Agbonlahor, and he then scored from the spot.

Villa looked to be well on their way to claiming the three points at this point, but Preston showed their battling qualities in the second period.

Jordan Hugill slammed home North End’s first, and then got on the end of a cross to head home the equaliser.

Villa are now in 13th place in the Championship table, while Preston sit two places above them.
