Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce confirms Scott Hogan could miss out on playing Middlesbrough

Aston Villa are due to face Middlesbrough in Championship action at the weekend, but they could be without Scott Hogan.

Steve Bruce has told Aston Villa’s official website that Scott Hogan could now be an injury doubt for his side’s match against Nottingham Forest this weekend.

Hogan started for Villa against Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup yesterday, but he picked up a knock during the fixture.

And Hogan is one of three Villa players who could be struggling to make it off the treatment table in time to play against Forest on Saturday.

“Mile Jedinak unfortunately is feeling his groin,” Bruce revealed.

“Henri Lansbury has tweaked his knee and Scott Hogan complained of something wrong with his ankle and foot tonight.

“We’ll see how they are – it’s a bit early to report anything yet.”

Villa were beaten 2-0 by Middlesbrough in the cup last night, with Bruce making numerous changes to his line-up.

The claret and blues are expected to be back at full strength for their match against Forest, where they will be looking to build upon their victory over Barnsley last weekend.

Villa have made a slightly disappointing start to their Championship campaign, and they are already playing catch up on the play off chasers.

Villa are five points behind the top six, and while that gap is hardly insurmountable, Bruce’s side are under pressure to start putting together a run of victories.
