Chelsea-owned duo Tammy Abraham and Jonathan Kodjia started for Aston Villa against Rotherham United in the Championship on Tuesday evening.

Aston Vila manager Steve Bruce has suggested to The Birmingham Mail that he could play Tammy Abraham and Jonathan Kodjia together upfront.

Striker Abraham, who joined Villa on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Chelsea in the summer transfer window, started the Championship match against Rotherham United at Villa Park on Tuesday alongside 28-year-old forward Kodjia.

Villa manager Bruce has suggested that the Villa Park fans could see more of the 20-year-old striker and Kodjia play together in the coming weeks and months.

Bruce told The Birmingham Mail: “They had only been together three or four days before the Rotherham game.

“The more time they spend playing together then the hopefully the better that partnership will become. Playing two up front is something I have been keen to do and it worked.

“We could have been two-nil up in the first four minutes. It gives me encouragement going forwards, let’s hope it continues.”

Excitement for Aston Villa fans

Abraham and Kodjia played quite well together for Villa against Rotherham, and the Villa Park faithful would love to see the two forwards do it again.

It will take a while for the two forwards to develop an understanding between themselves.

When that happens, then the Villa attack will be a force to be reckoned with, and opposition defences will struggle to cope with them.

Villa are very much in the running for automatic promotion from the Championship to the Premier League this season.
