Steve Bruce has confirmed to the Birmingham Mail that he wants to sign all of Aston Villa’s loan players permanently at the end of the season.

Villa are in the play off final, and if they win the promotion deciding contest against Fulham at Wembley, the claret and blues’ transfer plans are already clear.

Bruce has suggested that Villa will make moves to sign all of their loanees from this season, which include Tottenham Hotspur’s Josh Onomah.

“I have to say we have the makings of a very decent squad. The five loan players add to that,” Bruce said.

Josh Onomah of Aston Villa looks on during the Sky Bet Championship match between Birmingham City and Aston Villa at St Andrews (stadium) on October 29, 2017 in Birmingham, England.

“The first thing we want to do is secure them. I would love to secure them all if we can.

“The loan signings have been instrumental in getting us this far.

“I can’t thank them enough for what they’ve done.

“They’ve been terrific for us, our loan signings.”

Whether Tottenham would be open to selling Onomah to Villa remains to be seen.

The youngster has had mixed success during his time at Villa Park, where he has slipped in and out of Bruce’s first-team.

The Tottenham prospect has shown flashes of quality, but there have been questions over his attitude at times.

Onomah’s chances of breaking back into Tottenham’s team look slim next season, so it could be that a move is best for his own development.

But Mauricio Pochettino is known to be a fan of the youngster, and could be loathed to offload him permanently.

Onomah looks likely to be on the substitutes’ bench at the weekend, when Villa take on Fulham.
