Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has suggested to The Express & Star that he wants to see more goals and assists from Jack Grealish.

Grealish, who can operate as a winger or as an attacking midfielder, is one of the best players in the Championship and is a key figure at Villa.

The 23-year-old has provided just one assist in 13 Championship appearances for the Villans so far this season, according to WhoScored.

During the 2017-18 campaign, the attacker made 22 starts and made eight substitute appearances for Villa, scoring three goals and providing six assists in the process, according to WhoScored.

Villa manager Smith has said that he wants Grealish to score more goals and provide more assists, and that he will work with the youngster on that aspect of his game.

Smith told The Express & Star about Grealish: “Jack is an outstanding talent and he was probably rubbing his hands when he saw me coming, thinking this is a guy who wants his teams to play. And then all the work this week has been without the ball.

“He has probably seen a different side to me but that is part of his game he needs to do a little bit better.

“But I also liked the way he was trying to get in the penalty box more, which is an area I think he can improve on.

“He has not got the goals and assists that somebody of his talent should. That’s for me to work on with him as well as the coaching staff.”

Good advice

Grealish is a very good and creative midfielder, but the 23-year-old does need to add more goals to his game and also needs to provide more assists.

The 23-year-old is still developing and progressing as a footballer, and under Smith, Grealish can only get better.
