Dean Smith has revealed to Aston Villa’s website that Kortney Hause has taken to his training like a duck to water already.

Aston Villa signed the Wolverhampton Wanderers defender on loan until the end of the season.

Hause is the Villans’ second January signing so far after a permanent deal was struck for Croatia international goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic.

The 23-year-old was nowhere near Wolves’ first-team squad, but continued training nonetheless and Smith says the towering defender looks ‘really good’ so far.

He told Villa’s official website: “He’s joined in training already and looked really good. He looked really bright.

“Time will tell where he is in terms of his fitness. He hasn’t had loads of game-time but he’s trained every day at Wolves. His fitness levels are still up there.”

It’ll be interesting to see if the Wolves man can add any sense of stability to an increasingly erratic Aston Villa defence.

Smith’s side have shipped 18 goals from their last nine games across all competitions, which is far too much.

The West Midlands side visit Wigan Athletic on Saturday.
