The Aston Villa midfielder is currently suffering with a shin injury.

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith addressed the media today, ahead of his side’s clash with Stoke City on Saturday, and delivered an injury update on key man Jack Grealish, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail.
The 23-year-old looked for all the world like he would leave Villa Park in the summer, but he ended up staying in the west Midlands, and he has been a vitally important player for his side this season.
The Villans currently sit in eighth spot in the Championship table, four points adrift of sixth placed Middlesbrough, and Smith will be desperate to have Grealish back and available for the hectic Christmas schedule.
The Aston Villa boss delivered bad news regarding the midfielder’s injury, however, when speaking to reporters during his pre-match press conference today, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail:

“He’s struggling for Saturday. It doesn’t help being the most kicked player in the league, from pillar to post. We’ll give him as much time as he needs to get back. He’s got a shin injury. He’ll have another test tomorrow and hopefully he’ll be available for the Christmas period.”
Smith’s update on Grealish certainly doesn’t sound too promising, and Aston Villa will definitely miss the midfield play-maker.
Villa fans will be hoping that the 23-year-old returns to action as soon as possible – their promotion hopes could depend on it.
