Everton-owned Aston Villa winger Yannick Bolasie played against Bolton Wanderers in the Championship last week.
Smith made the comments following Villa’s 2-0 victory over Bolton Wanderers at Villa Park in the Championship last Friday evening.
The 29-year-old winger, who joined the Villans on loan from Everton in the summer transfer window, came on as a substitute in the 73rd minute.
According to WhoScored.com, the DR Congo international had a pass accuracy of 50%, won two headers, took 15 touches, attempted one dribble.
Villa manager Smith was impressed with the performance of Bolasie, and believes that the winger is getting better.
Smith told The Birmingham Mail about Bolasie: “I am really pleased with how he’s responded. I thought he was a real threat when he came on against Bolton. He looked powerful.
“He looked quick. He looked strong. He looked a bag full of tricks. That’s what I remember of him.
“I thought he did that when he came off the bench against QPR, too. It’s pleasing we have someone of that quality who’s getting better and better.”

Bolasie has not exactly been great for Villa since joining from Everton in the summer transfer window, but recent signs have been very encouraging.
Given the Everton-owned winger’s pace, trickery and skills, he will be a key figure for Villa in their quest to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
Villa are 14th in the Championship table at the moment with 21 points from 16 matches.
