Aston Villa boss Dean Smith feels that Arsenal being able to bring both Willian and Pierre Emerick Aubameyang off the bench proves the quality that Mikel Arteta has in his squad, as per his comments to the claret and blues’ official website.

Villa completed the league double over Arsenal at the weekend, as they won 1-0 at Villa Park.

Villa were tested on occasion by Arsenal, but they held firm to claim the three points.

And Smith has hailed the quality of his group, as he feels that the bench options that Arsenal had prove just how deep the squad is at the Emirates Stadium.

“We have played the Arsenal in our last three games, and won all three without conceding a goal – and that’s with Aubameyang and Willian coming off the bench, which just shows the quality that they have,” he said.

“The concentration levels of the players and the confidence levels that they should take from taking on these players and coming out on top should give them a massive boost for the rest of the season.”

Arsenal have arguably underperformed this season, with Arteta’s side currently sitting in 10th place in the Premier League table.

Few Arsenal fans will argue with Smith that Aubameyang is a wonderful bench option, but some may have a differing opinion on the decision to bring Willian on.

Willian has struggled since his move to the Gunners and he did very little to convince again at the weekend.

The Brazilian didn’t manage to inject much life into Arsenal’s attack, as they fell to their second defeat in as many games.
