Aston Villa manager Dean Smith has told The Birmingham Mail that Tammy Abraham will miss the match against Leeds United this weekend, but he hopes that the Chelsea-owned striker will be back for the game against Norwich City.

Villa have secured their place in the Championship playoffs and have two more matches left in the ‘regular’ season.

The Villans will take on Leeds away from home at Elland Road this coming Sunday, before facing Norwich at Villa Park on May 5.

Abraham, signed on a season-long loan deal from Premier League club Chelsea in the summer of 2018, missed the Villans’ 1-0 win against Millwall at Villa Park in the Championship on Monday due to a shoulder injury.

Villa manager Smith has given an update on the injury of the England international striker, and has suggested that he will be back for the match against Norwich.

Smith told The Birmingham Mail: “He’s had a scan on his shoulder and it’s nothing major. The Leeds game will come too early but we’re hoping he will be back for Norwich.”

Positive news

Abraham is one of the most important players for Villa, and the striker being ready for the playoffs is certainly good news for the Villans in their quest to win promotion to the Premier League.

The 21-year-old striker has made 37 appearances in the Championship for Villa so far this season, scoring 25 goals and providing three assists in the process, according to WhoScored.
