Aston Villa’s fringe players were given some game time in a friendly match earlier this week.

Villa put some of their fringe players through their paces, as Smith looked to get game time into his squad.
Jedinak was one of the players to benefit from the friendly match, as he has been out with injury for so long.
And Villa boss Smith was impressed by what he saw from the Australian international in the non-competitive game.
He said: “Mile got 60 minutes for us, which was good and he looked good.
“He’s been out for quite a while. He sat on the bench for us at Middlesbrough when he was struggling and it’s taken him a while to get to his period. It will be great to have someone of his experience and quality available.”

Jedinak has not played at all for Villa since Smith took charge, but he was a favourite of Steve Bruce.
The 34-year-old could help to tighten up Villa’s defensive performance, which would be a boost.
Villa have struggled to shut out opposition sides, and they have conceded far too regularly of late.
Villa are next in action at the weekend against Ipswich Town, and it remains to be seen whether Jedinak will be involved.
