Aston Villa boss Dean Smith comments on signing Kortney Hause from Wolves

Aston Villa have signed up Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Kortney Hause on loan with a view to making the deal permanent.

Dean Smith has told Aston Villa’s Youtube channel that getting a permanent clause inserted into Kortney Hause’s loan move from Wolverhampton Wanderers was seriously important.

Smith is not a big fan of the loan market, and Villa have seen the negative side of it recently.

Tammy Abraham has seriously impressed on loan at Villa, but Smith’s side could face the prospect of losing the striker mid-season, as they have no option to buy him.

Smith wanted to make sure that did not happen again, and Villa moved to snap up Hause on loan from Wolves with an option to making the deal permanent in the summer.

“We’ve managed to get Kortney on loan with the option to buy,” Smith said.

“That’s very important to us, because you ideally you don’t want to be developing players for ourselves. That’s what we have the option to do with Kortney.”

Hause is expected to come straight into Villa’s team, and he should help Smith’s side tighten up defensively.

The claret and blues have struggled at the back of late, and have conceded far too frequently.

Hause has found chances hard to come by at Wolves, but with Axel Tuanzebe sidelined, he could partner James Chester in the heart of Smith’s side’s defence.

Villa are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Wigan Athletic.
