Kortney Hause has joined Aston Villa on loan from Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Hause has joined Championship club Villa on loan from Premier League side Wolves in the January transfer window.
The 23-year-old central defender will remain at Villa Park on loan until the end of the season.
Villa manager Smith has spoken highly of the former England Under-21 international, and has said that he has been following the youngster – who can also fill in at left-back – since he was at West Ham.
Smith told The Birmingham Mail about Hause: “I remember him at West Ham. I saw a bit of him there when he came through, then at Wycombe and at Wolves as well. I have always been aware of him.”
“He is a talent,” Smith added. “He is a physical specimen as well. He can dominate in both boxes. He also brings us balance, being left-footed. On top of that he is a really good athlete.
“I am looking forward to working with him. He is a project for us because he can get better. We want to help him improve and get to the levels we believe he can do.”
Good signing for Aston Villa
Hause is a very good and promising young defender who will be an asset for Villa in their quest to finish in the top six of the Championship this season.
The Villans have been short at the back, and the signing of the 23-year-old will address that issue.
It is hard to see Smith’s team launch a challenge for automatic promotion to the Premier League, but they can certainly end up in the top six.
