Bartosz Bereszynski, who was linked with a move to Celtic and has admitted turning down Aston Villa, could join Italian champions Inter Milan in 2022, as reported by Calciomercato.
Inter’s well-publicised financial problems – not to mention high-profile departures of Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi and talismanic tactician Antonio Conte – meant their stay at the Serie A summit was supposed to be a short one; a quick peek at the view and then back down the mountain.
So you may be surprised to learn that, after nine games of the new campaign, Inter are looking down on Juventus, Atalanta and Jose Mourinho’s Roma, setting up base camp in the table’s top three.
The evergreen Edin Dzeko has replaced the seemingly irreplaceable Lukaku with ease, eight goals in 12 games a remarkable return.
Denzel Dumfries, meanwhile, has stepped successfully into Hakimi’s shoes while Simone Inzaghi has Inter playing a more exciting, front-foot style of football than the more pragmatic Conte ever did.
The versatile, experienced Bereszynski, then, could be catapulted directly into a title battle if he, as reports suggest, swaps Sampdoria for the San Siro in the January transfer window.
Inter want cover at full-back and the Poland international, who can play on the left or right, is unlikely to leave a big hole in Inter’s strained budget, especially with his contract due to expire in less than two years.
He is viewed by Inter as a cheap alternative to Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez.

Inter Milan eager about former Aston Villa and Celtic target Bereszynski
29-year-old Bereszynski was linked with a move to Celtic in summer 2020, via Il Secolo XIX.
Speaking three years before that, the player confirmed Aston Villa had expressed an interest too.
“At the beginning of January 2017, when I left Legia Warsaw, I could have gone to Aston Villa. I chose Sampdoria,” Bereszynski told Sport PL.
Now his commitment to the Sampdoria cause may be rewarded with a mid-season switch to one of the biggest clubs in Europe.
