Arsenal are believed to be interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz – and Stan Collymore seemingly hopes the deal happens.
Villa took on Brentford on Sunday afternoon, taking a 1-0 lead through Danny Ings before it all went wrong.
Yoane Wissa equalised before Mads Roerslev won it for the Bees, completing the turnaround in a 2-1 win for the hosts.
The Villa inquest has begun, and Collymore has been strong with his criticism of midfielder Luiz.
VIlla’s midfield lost control of the game against Brentford, and a poor Luiz display came at a bad time.
ESPN report that Arsenal are eyeing up Luiz as Mikel Arteta is still keen to add a holding midfielder to his side.
Whether that’s a January move or one for the summer, Luiz is now under the microscope a little more.
On Sunday, Luiz recorded two key passes, two aerials won and just the one tackle. Luiz made no interceptions but completed 86% of his passes.

All in all, it was a fairly underwhelming display from Luiz – and Collymore was very critical after the game.
Collymore took to Twitter to suggest that Luiz deserved more criticism than midfield partner John McGinn, whilst adding that Villa should bite Arsenal’s hand off if they want Luiz.
Villa likely wouldn’t share that stance, but Arsenal may not have been too impressed with Luiz’s showing at Brentford.
