Unai Emery’s Aston Villa are now trying to beat David Moyes’s West Ham United to the signing of Harry Maguire from Manchester United, according to a report.

Football Transfers have reported that Aston Villa want to sign West Ham United target and Manchester United central defender Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window.

Villa have made enquiries with the Red Devils over a potential deal for the £190,000-a-week (The Sun) defender.

Aston Villa competition for West Ham United regarding Harry Maguire

Tyrone Mings suffered what appeared to be a serious injury against Newcastle United, and Villa are now trying to get in a new defender.

Although Villa will not make a bid for Maguire until they know for sure how long Mings will be out, they have told Manchester United that they will be ready to match any offers for the England international.

According to Football Transfers, West Ham have had a £30 million offer for Maguire accepted, but the defender himself is yet to agree personal terms with the Hammers.

Villa’s reported interest is a worry for West Ham.

Yes, the Hammers have matched Manchester United’s demands regarding a transfer fee, but they have not agreed personal terms with Maguire.

If Mings is out for the long term, then it would make Villa desperate to sign Maguire and could see them offer better terms to the England international than West Ham.

Maguire has made 219 appearances in the Premier League so far in his career.

The defender has scored 11 goals, given eight assists, and kept 56 clean sheets in those games.
