Aston Villa have reportedly assured Tottenham that they will soon make a bid to sign Giovani Lo Celso.
According to TyC Sports, Unai Emery is keen to be reunited with the Argentine midfielder having signed the 27-year-old on loan on two separate occasions for Villarreal, where Lo Celso currently plies his trade.
With Lo Celso expected to return to north London this summer, Villa have now alerted Tottenham that will now make a bid to sign the former Real Betis superstar, with the Premier League side looking to expand on their South American contingent.
Lauded as a ‘magnificent’ player by Sevilla president Jose Castro, Lo Celso could finally get his career in England off the ground if Villa are able to complete a deal for the midfielder, a prospect Tottenham could be more than happy to accept this summer.
Spurs are expected to undergo one of their biggest summers ever with Daniel Levy tasked with appointing a new manager and a new director of football, and selling off deadwood, such as Lo Celso, would be a smart business practice for Tottenham.
Moreover, with Villa keen on signing the former PSG star, Tottenham could wrap up a deal to sell Lo Celso for good in no time, with Emery seemingly keen on adding the midfielder to his ranks ahead of a potential return to Europe for the Villa Park side.
Lo Celso signing for Villa makes too much sense this summer
Having made 86 appearances for Emery across PSG and Villarreal, it is perhaps no real surprise why the Villa manager is now working on an offer to bring Lo Celso to Birmingham, with the midfielder an ideal player for the Premier League side.
Underappreciated at Tottenham, Lo Celso has the potential to show his current employers what they have been missing out on by impressing for Villa under Emery, who could once again get the best out of the 27-year-old next season.
