Aston Villa playmaker Jack Grealish has picked two Tottenham stars in a World XI posted on his Instagram story, after being linked with a move to Spurs this summer.

It was widely reported that Spurs tabled an offer of £25million for Villa star Grealish in the final 24 hours of the transfer window, only for Villa to reject the offer and label him as ‘not for sale’ (Daily Mail).

It is said that Grealish wanted to join Spurs, and was disappointed that a move failed to take place. However, he has continued to impress since the saga surrounding his future and a new contract at Villa is on the cards.

Spurs could look to reignite their interest in Grealish in January, and the playmaker continues to mention Spurs on social media by naming Harry Kane and Kieran Trippier in his World XI on Instagram.

Grealish decided to also choose ex-Spurs man Luka Modric, while notable omissions include Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Manuel Neuer and Neymar.

Kane is certainly up there with the best strikers in the world after winning the 2018 World Cup golden boot with six goals, but it is somewhat of a surprise to see Kieran Trippier above the likes of Kyle Walker, Dani Carvajal and Joshua Kimmich.

Spurs are next in action on Monday night, in a huge clash that sees Mauricio Pochettino’s north Londoners travel north to Manchester to take on Jose Mourinho’s United at Old Trafford.
