Aston Villa fans have every right to be over the moon with their performance against Tottenham, but before that match kicked off, some bad news emerged about Matty Cash.
Indeed, Cash, who came off with a hamstring injury in Villa’s game against Crystal Palace over the weekend, confirmed on social media that the injury has ended his season, meaning that he will not feature against Chelsea in the Midlands club’s final game of the season.
It’s a real shame to hear that Cash won’t be able to finish the season in what has been a brilliant debut campaign.
Usually, you would say that a dead rubber match like this doesn’t matter all that much to Villa, but this would have been a chance for Cash to play in front of fans at Villa Park, something that every footballer has missed over the past 14 months.
The right-back will now have to wait until next season to play in front of supporters again, and we can only hope that he comes back firing on all cylinders ready to help Villa challenge for a spot in Europe next season.
