Liverpool fans may hope for some big additions this summer, building on what will surely become their first Premier League title.
However, the global pandemic may hit Liverpool’s spending plans. The Mirror recently suggested that Liverpool are changing their plans, and will look for future talents rather than immediate stars.
One of the players mentioned in that article was Aster Vranckx. The Mechelen talent is far from a household name, having only burst onto the scene this season.
Liverpool are allegedly fighting Manchester City for Vranckx, with Pep Guardiola and co keen to sign him. Bayern Munich and Feyenoord are also interested.
Vranckx, 17, has made nine first-team appearances this season. He has already notched one goal and two assists for the Belgian side.
A box-to-box midfielder, Vranckx could be a player to bring in as a long-term replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum, if Liverpool can fend off City.

Now, Vranckx has commented on the situation to Het Nieuwsblad. The teenager has committed his future to Mechelen, suggesting that he will play for them next season and chose them as a youngster because he will play more regularly.
Vranckx noted that it’s ‘nice’ to be linked with clubs like Liverpool and City, but he is ‘not really impressed by that’, as he instead wants to focus on Mechelen for now.
“That is all future music. KV Mechelen has mapped out a career plan for me. I also chose this club, because I knew that I would play more here,” said Vranckx. “It is always nice to be linked to such clubs, but I am not really impressed by that. I cannot exclude anything, but in principle I will play for KV Mechelen next season,” he added.
