Tottenham Hotspur currently have six players out on loan.
Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has a talented squad to choose from but the club also have some players with much potential who are currently out on loan.
Here’s an assessment of how Tottenham’s various loanees are doing and a look at whether they can force their way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
Josh Onomah
Undoubtedly the standout player amongst Tottenham’s loanees, Onomah has caught the eye for Aston Villa in the Championship, with the midfielder having scored three goals so far.
Onomah is composed in possession and is also a fine dribbler and with those qualities deserves to be given an opportunity to impress in the Tottenham first-team next season.
Cameron Carter-Vickers
Another player who is enjoying his first loan spell away from Tottenham, powerful centre-back Carter-Vickers is spending the season in England’s second tier with Sheffield United.
Although he was woeful in the 5-4 defeat to Fulham this week, Carter-Vickers has been rather impressive overall and, like Onomah, will hope to be part of Pochettino’s squad next season.
Vincent Janssen
Janssen endured a difficult first season at Tottenham and the striker is attempting to get his career back on track at Fenerbahce.
The Dutchman impressed earlier in the campaign as he scored two goals in as many games in September.
He is yet to find the net since but has impressed with his link-up play and will be eager to earn a permanent move to Fenerbahce, with his future appearing to lie away from Tottenham.
Tom Glover
The young goalkeeper has yet to play a competitive first-team game for Tottenham and is gaining experience in his native Australia with Central Coast Mariners.
Matters haven’t exactly gone to plan so far, however, as he was dropped after conceding ten goals in four games, indicating that he doesn’t possess the quality to succeed at Tottenham.
Connor Ogilvie
Having previously had two loan spells at Stevenage, Ogilvie is now at League One side Gillingham.
The former England youth international has featured prominently so far, playing in a range of positions including left-back, centre-back and as a left wing-back.
Ogilvie’s loan runs until January but the deal could well be extended until the end of the season. It is difficult to envisage him making the breakthrough at Tottenham, however, especially given that he turns 22 later this campaign.
Anton Walkes
Walkes, who can play at centre-back but is most often used as a right-back, has been on loan at Atlanta United since January and is likely to return to Tottenham in the new year.
The 20-year-old was a regular for Atlanta United and caught the eye with some of his displays, but the summer arrival of Serge Aurier will make it difficult for him to succeed at Tottenham.
