Speaking to Optus Sport, Kyle Walker-Peters has been reflecting on his time with Tottenham Hotspur.

The full-back came through the Spurs academy, and while he didn’t make much of a first-team impact in north London, he reckons that he was one of the best players in training at the club.

Indeed, the defender says that he always gave 100 per cent in training and he believes that Pochettino would vouch for the fact that he was one of the best in training.

What’s been said?

Walker-Peters spoke about his time at Tottenham.

“No regrets, I gave 100 per cent the whole time I was there, if you ask Pochettino, he will probably tell you I was one of the best trainers the entire time he was in charge. I’m in a place where I’m really happy with the time I spent there, and I have no regrets whatsoever,” Walker-Peters said.

Deserved more chances

If Walker-Peters was indeed one of the best players in training at Spurs, why did he not get more of a chance?

The defender played just 12 league games before he was shipped out to Southampton, but it sounds as though he deserved more of a shot.

Let’s be honest, Serge Aurier and Kieran Trippier weren’t exactly shining at right-back during that time, so why did Pochettino not give the youngster more of a shot?

Walker-Peters has since gone on to prove that he’s a more than capable Premier League full-back, but we can’t help but feel that Spurs may have missed a trick here.
