Ian Wright has stated that he has been proven right by Miguel Almiron and the goalscoring form he has been hitting in Newcastle United colours this season.
The Arsenal legend added that he previously told Alan Shearer that he has ‘always liked’ October’s Player of the Month and thought, if he could get a few things right, then he would then ‘cause some problems’, as he told Premier League Productions (14/11/22 at 2:55 pm).
Well, the 28-year-old is doing that in some serious, serious style, as Eddie Howe’s side are sitting in the Champions League places.

After 15 Premier League games, he has eight goals to his name – in his previous 124 matches for the Magpies, he had 14 goals.
Nonetheless, Wright was told to name his most improved player in the Premier League this season, whilst he handed that award to Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka, he was sure to give Almiron his flowers.
“Almiron, he’s got to get love from me as well,” said Wright. “With Almiron, you can ask Alan Shearer, I have always liked Miggy because (of) his work rate.
“Some of the things he tries, it doesn’t work out and you think to yourself ‘you know what, if those things start working out, with his work rate and with his pace, then he’s going to cause some problems’.
“So, it’s really good to see him doing that this season. You just want to hope that it’s just not this season and next season he goes back, so he can continue to improve. But he has been magnificent.”

NEWCASTLE IN EUROPE
It has been a long while since the Toon Army faithful have been on a few European tours, but there is a sense it could happen for next season.
With domestic football now halted for the 2022 World Cup, a lot of eyes will be on Newcastle to see if that stop in momentum hasn’t hurt them.
Almiron has eight Premier League goals to his name and there isn’t any reason why he can’t hit 15+ goals, which would probably push the Magpies over that European line if he can reach those figures.
