West Ham United made a move to improve their full-back options on deadline day, with the signing of Alvaro Arbeloa on a free transfer.

The Spaniard was certainly an eye-catching piece of business.

A World Cup winner with Spain who has also won the Champions League twice with Real Madrid there is no doubt the 33-year-old has pedigree.

Since his signing plenty of big names have been messaging him wishing him luck in his new venture.

One such player was former Real team-mate Asier Illaramendi.

The Real Sociedad midfielder sent this message to the veteran defender on Twitter after hearing he had made the move to London:

Arbeloa will no doubt be a very useful player at West Ham.

Slaven Bilic has failed to be convinced by Sam Byram so far whilst Michail Antonio is wasted when played in the position.

He can also fill in at left-back comfortably, which is helpful with Aaron Cresswell currently out injured.

With plenty of experience in the Premier League from his time with Liverpool there is no doubt that Arbeloa might be the bargain signing of the summer.
