Speaking on the NUFC Matters YouTube channel, Ben Jacobs has been discussing Benjamin Sesko’s situation amid ongoing transfer speculation.

Sesko has been linked to almost every club in Europe, from Manchester United and Chelsea, but he’s eventually signed for RB Leipzig.

Newcastle United had also been credited with an interest, and the reporter claims that Dan Ashworth is well aware of how talented Sesko is.

What’s been said?

Jacobs shared what he knows about Sesko prior to his move to Leipzig.

“Newcastle aren’t actively in the race at the moment, there was excitement because someone saw the agent in Newcastle and put two and two together,” Jacobs said.

“Nothing too much at the moment between Newcastle and Benjamin Sesko other than the fact that Dan Ashworth is well aware that he is a top, top talent.”

Keep an eye on him

Newcastle seemingly aren’t in for Sesko this summer, but perhaps they should be keeping an eye on his development in the future.

At the age of just 19, the teenager has so much room to grow and improve, but at that age, it would have been a massive risk to spend big money on a player who has barely made an impact at the senior level.

For all of the hype surrounding Sesko, he only scored five league goals last season, and Newcastle, for all their wealth, aren’t in a position where they can go out and spend big money on a player of this profile.

However, as Newcastle grow and Sesko develops in the Bundesliga, this could be a transfer to look out for in the future.

Indeed, while Leipzig have won the race this summer, if Sesko hits the heights that are expected of him, it won’t be long before Premier League clubs are sniffing again.

Sesko is clearly on Newcastle’s radar, and he could be a player they look at in the future.
