Speculation is rife that Newcastle United are now wanting to sign Matheus Franca [as covered by HITC Sport].
The 18-year-old Flamengo starlet is a very highly-rated prospect coming out of Brazil and, according to Fabrizio Romano, two Premier League outfits are pushing to sign him.
Is Newcastle one of them? Well, time will tell.
But if Dan Ashworth, their director of football, can win the race to sign Franca then, well, it’s a very exciting development indeed.
This is because one of the clubs who Ashworth will have to beat is Real Madrid who, according to The Daily Mail, are also keen.

As a global powerhouse and reigning Champions League winners, signing for the Spanish giants is a no-brainer.
And that’s why it’s massively exciting if Newcastle can win the race to sign the teenage starlet.
Everyone already knows that the St James’s Park outfit are a club on the rise, evident by their third-placed status in the Premier League right now.
They’re getting bigger in the Premier League, but pipping Real to this signing – or any signing – would highlight United’s growing power in the transfer market, too.
It would be a major indication that Newcastle can now stand toe-to-toe with the big boys and, crucially, win.
