Ashley Young has labelled the Aston Villa fans as ‘amazing’ on Twitter after their side suffered a 3-2 defeat against Watford on Saturday.

The 36-year-old was making his second debut for Villa and ironically enough against the club that he signed from when he made his first debut in Claret and Blue colours.

After a pretty abject start from Villa, that saw them go 3-0 down, Young was eventually being played at left-back after a horror opening 45 minutes by Targett.

Ismaila Sarr caused the Englishman all sorts of problems and he was eventually hauled off at half-time by Dean Smith.

The second half display was a lot better from Villa, but it wasn’t enough to seal any points against the newly-promoted side.

This is the Twitter message Young set to the Villa fans today:

It will be interesting to see what type of role Young plays in this Villa side because he might not be able to relive the past glory days that saw him dazzle many opposition fullbacks and put in crosses for fun.

He might not be able to do that on a regular basis, but any magic moments here and there will be more than welcome – that’s the hope.

But Villa fans might also seem the Serie A title winner used as a left-back from time again because he is the backup option to Targett.

Plus, with the Midlands side bringing in Axel Tuanzebe, will Smith play a back three and use Young as a wing-back? Only time will tell.
