Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Schalke 04 offered Liverpool the chance to sign Ozan Kabak for just £8.5m.
What’s the story?
Well, you might be wondering why this concerns Newcastle.
As the BBC revealed in February, Newcastle had agreed a deal to sign the 12-cap Turkey international, only for the Reds to hijack the transfer.
Jürgen Klopp’s side signed Kabak on a short-term loan, with an option to buy the centre-back for £18m.
In the end, despite some impressive displays, Liverpool decided not to activate that option.
Now, with Schalke 04 in desperate need of cash, they are seemingly offering their No.4 around for just £8.5m.
It remains to be seen who else has received this offer – so far, only Liverpool have been given the £8.5m opportunity, and Goal believe they’ve rejected it.
Newcastle should sign Ozan Kabak
If Newcastle are offered the same opportunity, Steve Bruce would be silly not to take Schalke 04 up on their offer.
You won’t find many 21-year-old defenders around, who have experience of playing in the Champions League and numerous caps for their country.
Kabak did well in the Premier League, helping Liverpool to third.
He also didn’t look out of place against Real Madrid in the Champions League.
Newcastle could certainly do with a younger face in the centre-back department, and they won’t find many cheaper than the Turk.
