Ashley Williams has made an encouraging start to life at Everton.
Ashley Williams has told the Liverpool Echo that he is enjoying linking up with Phil Jagielka at Everton.
Williams has already made a big difference to Everton’s defence this season, since signing from Swansea for a fee of £12 million (BBC Sport).
The experienced Welsh international has come straight into The Toffees’ team, and helped them remain unbeaten during their first five Premier League matches.
Williams has generally been stationed alongside Jagielka at the heart of Everton’s defence.
And Williams said: “I’m enjoying playing with him, he’s a good communicator so we both talk to each other which is half the job really.
“We’ve played a lot of games between us so we’re experienced and know what the other person would want.
“It’s just about us trying to form a bond as quickly as possible and trying to keep as many clean sheets as possible.”
When Jagielka and Williams have been on the pitch together, Everton have conceded just once against Middlesbrough.
Ronald Koeman’s side’s defensive record this season is a major improvement on last term, when issues in their backline plagued their form.
Everton are next in action at the weekend, when they take on Bournemouth – with Williams and Jagielka both likely to start.
