Romelu Lukaku has netted seven goals for Everton so far this season.

Ashely Williams has told the Liverpool Echo that he has been very impressed by Romelu Lukaku in Everton training.

Lukaku has netted seven goals in 10 matches for Everton so far this season, as he continues to enhance his reputation as one of the most prolific young strikers in world football.

And Williams has been very impressed by Lukaku’s finishing prowess, whenever he has come up against him in training.

“I don’t know about improvements because he’s always been good,” Williams said.

“But seeing him in training you realise just how lethal he really is.

“He’s a top class player, I’ve played against him a lot of times and I said at the time I signed that it is nice to have him on my team now and being able to look up at the other end of the pitch and seeing him hold it up, bring others into play and creating chances for other people and himself, it’s a nice sight.”

Lukaku’s latest goal for Everton came in their most recent match against West Ham United, which they won 2-0.

That victory has pushed Everton up into sixth place in the Premier League table, after making an impressive start.

Lukaku’s goalscoring form is one of the reasons behind Everton’s promising opening to the campaign, but the improvements Koeman has made to the Toffees’ backline have also helped.

Williams was brought to Everton from Swansea City last summer, and the Welsh defender has made a positive impression at Goodison Park, by adding steel to Everton’s defence.

The 30-year-old centre-back has formed a solid partnership with Phil Jagielka, and looks set to play a vital role as Koeman’s side aim to claim a European spot this season.
