Sunderland have managed to sign Ashley Fletcher on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season.

Fletcher was a deadline day signing for Sunderland, with the striker arriving on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season.
The target-man made his debut for Sunderland against Ipswich Town at the weekend, but he was unable to change Chris Coleman’s side’s fortunes.

Sunderland lost 2-0 to Ipswich, as their dire form this season continued.
But Fletcher insists that Sunderland have enough quality to get out of trouble.
“I’m 100 percent confident we can stay up,” he said. “I know we’ve lost in my first game, but when I came in here and trained for the first time earlier in the week, I couldn’t believe the quality that was there in the side.”

Sunderland are currently in 23rd place in the Championship table, and they have won just five games all season.
The Black Cats are now two points away from safety, and they are in danger of being cut adrift, unless their performances improve.
Sunderland are next in action at the weekend, when they take on high flying Bristol City at Ashton Gate.
