Ashley Fletcher came on for West Ham United in their 1-1 draw against Stoke City.
Ashley Fletcher has told West Ham United’s official website that Slaven Bilic urged him to make an impact, before bringing the striker on against Stoke City.
Fletcher was sent on as West Ham looked to break the deadlock against the Potters, and his arrival appeared to have the desired impact.
The summer signing from Manchester United had a part to play, as West Ham scored the opener in the contest.
Fletcher helped to set up the Hammers’ goal, as Michail Antonio’s header was diverted into his own net by Glenn Whelan.
And Fletcher said: “The manager told me to make an impact when I came on against Stoke and I like to think that I did that.
“I am hungry to do more, I am hungry to help this team and I am hungry to score more goals. Hopefully I will get more opportunities.”
Stoke ended up coming back in West Ham’s last match, as Adrian’s goalkeeping error was punished by Bojan.
The draw means that West Ham have not been able to move away from the drop zone, as they were hoping.
The Hammers are currently in 17th place in the Premier League table, and their next four fixtures look incredibly tough.
West Ham face Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester United in the coming weeks – with the pressure on them to start collecting victories to move up the Premier League standings.
