Ashley Fletcher has signed on loan at Sunderland from Middlesbrough for the remainder of the campaign.
Fletcher was brought to Sunderland on loan from Middlesbrough until the end of the season, and he could have a vital role to play at the Stadium of Light.
The Black Cats have suffered with limited options up-front, ever since Lewis Grabban left last month, and Fletcher will now be required to fill that void.
The former West Ham United man has struggled for goals this season, while with Middlesbrough.
However, Coleman has already told the 21-year-old that as long as he puts the effort in, he will be appreciated at Sunderland.
“It’s going to be a big ask (to stay up), but I think with the quality in the team we just need a run of wins,” Fletcher said.
“It’s easier said than done, but we just need to get that one, and then build on it.
“The manager just asked me to come here and fight: fight for the team and fight for the fans as well. He asked me to just give my all and he’ll love me for that, and that’s certainly what I plan on doing.”
The pressure is on Fletcher to hit the ground running, as Sunderland simply need to start collecting victories.
The Black Cats were beaten by Birmingham City in their most recent outing, which has increased relegation worries.
Sunderland are currently in 23rd place in the Championship table, after an abysmal campaign to date.
Fletcher could make his Black Cats debut on Saturday, when Coleman’s side take on Ipswich Town.
