Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers could afford to bring Ashley Cole to the Scottish Premiership if Steven Gerrard wanted him.

Ray Parlour suggested on Sky Sports earlier this week that Rangers should move for Ashley Cole.
Rangers could do with a solid left-back and, with Cole available for nothing, Parlour intimated that Steven Gerrard should bring his former England mate to Ibrox.
On the surface it seems very unlikely because, after all, this is a player who was earning upwards of £200,000 per week at Chelsea [The Mirror].
The Gers could really do with another left-back, with Gerrard forced to play midfielder Andy Halliday there last time around due to Borna Barisic’s injury.
And not only do we know that Cole – who accepted a major wage cut of £160,000 per week to join Roma [The Daily Mail] – has history with regards to taking less money if necessary, he wasn’t on a crazy salary at Los Angeles Galaxy, where he was released this week.
According to Goal.com, the 37-year-old, who turns 38 on December 20, was earning a little less than £900,000 per year in the MLS, which equates to roughly £17,000 per week.
Rangers could very easily afford to bring him to Glasgow if it was a case of finances, and therefore a transfer is a lot more possible than it originally seemed.
It should be noted that there is no speculation about Cole joining the Blues beyond Parlour’s suggestion, but extortionate wages wouldn’t be an obstacle if Gerrard genuinely wanted him.
