Rangers will want new signings at Ibrox during the January transfer window.

Rangers will be in the market for new signings in the January transfer window, and one area that Steven Gerrard may look to strengthen is left back.
The Gers did bring in Borna Barisic from Osijek over the summer, but one injury to the Croatian has exposed Rangers’ lack of depth in the position.
Jon Flanagan isn’t suited to the role as a natural right-footer, whilst midfielder Andy Halliday isn’t exactly comfortable there and Lee Wallace appears to have no future at Ibrox.
Landing some cover for Barisic may be a priority in January, and Gerrard may at least he intrigued to see former teammate Ashley Cole become available ahead of the transfer window.
MLS side LA Galaxy confirmed on Monday night that Cole’s contract won’t be renewed, and he is now free to join another club in the January transfer window.
Cole, 37, played with Gerrard for both England and LA Galaxy, forming a strong friendship from their time together, meaning a move to Ibrox may not be out of all realms of possibility.

Gerrard clearly isn’t averse to bringing in veterans having already signed Allan McGregor, Gareth McAuley and Kyle Lafferty, and Cole may fit the bill as well.
A short-term deal until the end of the season to add depth at left back could make sense, giving Rangers time to look for other left backs for the summer whilst reuniting Gerrard with a former teammate in a deal that wouldn’t break the bank.
