Liverpool have clearly found a gem in the form of Ozan Kabak.

The Reds signed him from Schalke on a half-season loan in January due to their ridiculous injury crisis of centre-back options at the time.

And despite a shaky start to life at Liverpool, Kabak, who turned 21 last week, is getting better and better all the time, evident by his performance in helping Jurgen Klopp’s side reach the quarter-final of the Champions League.

The Premier League champions have the option to make the move permanent for a bargain £18 million this summer.

But Athletic journalist David Ornstein has claimed that Liverpool will try to sign him for cheaper than that.

And here’s how some fans of the Anfield club have reacted to that revelation:

It’s important for Liverpool to be frugal and they will know that the German side have well-documented financial issues which may allow them to get him for a little cheaper.

Then again, why risk it?

At 21, Kabak clearly has such a bright future in football and over the coming years he could and probably will be worth a staggeringly-high figure, compared to this £18 million.

Liverpool will want to get as good a deal as possible but, by the same token, there’s no sense in trying to knock a couple million off the price if it jeopardises the transfer.

There is such a thing as trying to be a little too cute and if the £18 million figure is accurate, the Merseysiders should simply pay it.
