Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City reportedly want to get rid of Arsenal target Joao Cancelo as soon as possible.

Arsenal linked with Manchester City full-back Joao Cancelo

Journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport on June 30 that Arsenal want to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

The reporter said at the time that Arsenal were going to focus on Cancelo once they had wrapped up deals for Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber.

England international midfielder Rice has since completed his move from West Ham United, while Netherlands international defender Timber has moved from Ajax.

Football Transfers also reported in June Arsenal’s interest in Cancelo, claiming that manager Mikel Arteta was planning to play the full-back at right-back.

Manchester City want Cancelo gone

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano told GiveMeSport earlier this month that Arsenal appreciate Cancelo and remain interested in him.

The £180,000-a-week (SalarySport) Portugal international can operate on either flank.

Italian journalist Rudy Galetti is now reporting on Twitter that Manchester City want to offload Cancelo as soon as possible.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Barcelona want to sign the 29-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Pre-season training has already started, and the new Premier League campaign will start soon.

Arsenal should try to sign Joao Cancelo

In our opinion, Arsenal should at least try to sign Joao Cancelo from Manchester City in the summer transfer window.

While the Gunners do have a strong squad with options at full-back, Cancelo is one of the best players around and is at the top of his game at the moment.

The Portuguese full-back would be able to make an immediate impact at Arsenal.

Cancelo, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayern Munich, himself could fancy a move to Arsenal and be part of a team who will aim to win the Premier League title next season and also make an impact in the UEFA Champions League.
